1. Make a plan on how to start your day care center. This includes listing down all the requirements you need to fulfill in order to operate a legitimate day care business, your location, your finances, plus the fees you will charge your clients.
2. Organize your day care center. This task includes anything and everything about the logistics and materials that you will be using inside your facility - tables and chairs, boards, pencils, crayons, paper, toys, books, and so on. You will need to have a system in sorting things out, which areas you will want to use for play rooms, group activities, and rest or naptime areas.
3. Advertise and market your daycare center. You can start with simple flyers and brochures, then go on to advertisements on the newspaper or radio. You can also have your friends and family spread the word for you.
4. You will need to develop an activity plan – for the kids. Don’t forget that you would need a lot of materials for this. Kids need a routine so you will have to create an established pattern that you will follow everyday. However, to make sure that the kids do not get bored, a smattering of fun and new activities should be introduced regularly.
5. Be financially capable. This does not only mean that you need to have the start up capital and the working capital in the bank. You will also need to form a financial system that can track expenses and profits.
